Leadership Development
Leadership Development In The Modern World
If you are over the age of 35 and are a product of the South African public schooling system it is more than likely that at some point you went on what was referred to as a leadership development camp or team building camp. These were normally at a bush camp and called a ‘Bosberaad” in Afrikaans and really had very little effect on most of the children or teens attending them except to create a lifelong dislike of the words leadership development.
Thank goodness, like everything else in South Africa, leadership development has taken on a new face and actually teaches leadership skills to people of all ages. The one thing that the old-fashioned “Bosberaad” did get right however is the importance of developing leadership skills in the youth. Leadership skills are imperative in the optimal functioning and success of each person’s lives whether in a personal or professional capacity. These skills can be used to lead yourself or others on the path to success. Leadership development also assists in teaching people how to deal better in any situation, keeping their heads while those around them loose their heads.
However it is not just the youth that can benefit from leadership development. You are never too young to learn and no matter how much of life you have seen, developing leadership skills can go a long way to improving your quality of life. No longer will you sit and stagnate doing the same old thing over and over you will learn how to grow and advance in life so that by achieving more you can experience more of what life has to offer.
